Out and About

Today we went to my work to introduce Addy to everyone there. She slept through the entire visit! It was really fun to be back to visit, I'm still getting used to not having to actually go to work.

Our neighbor brought dinner to us tonight, which was great. She picked up barbeque sandwiches for us from our favorite barbeque restaurant. What a nice treat!

This is my first attempt to earn a "Mother of the Year" award! I was pumping while she was in the swing, and the blanket fell over her face, poor thing. Of course, I had to take a picture before I fixed it!

Fun Day!

We were out and about all day today. It was so fun to be out of the house! We had a beautiful 70 degree day today. It was also Addy's first doctor appointment today. She looked adorable, but unfortunately had to be in her birthday suit for most of the appointment, which she despised. Her weight is 7 lbs 12 oz and her height is still 21.5 in. And she is healthy! The doctor said she's looking really good.

After her appointment today we ran some errands. Daddy tried to show her around Lowe's, but she slept the whole time! We also took her to Target, but again, she was sleeping. We think her crying at the doctor's office wore her out because she didn't have very much awake time this afternoon. She pretty much slept from one feeding to the next. She's so sweet, we just love her! It's fun to watch her sleep and see the different expressions on her face as she sleeps.

Tomorrow will be a low key day, I think we're going to make a visit to my work so we can introduce her to the fun crew there! Other than that, we'll be hanging around the house. It's supposed to be a rainy day tomorrow anyway.

All dressed up for the doctor!

Not thrilled about this exam.

Really not thrilled about this exam!

Relaxing Weekend

It's hard to believe it was one week ago today that we were in the hospital waiting to meet our sweet Addy! Time is flying already! We had a nice weekend, hanging around the house on Saturday and having our first outing to church this morning. We even met our friends at Taco Bell for dinner tonight! Addy slept all the way through church and our dinner at Taco Bell. She really likes the car, it puts her right to sleep! We put her in her crib yesterday and she was so fascinated with her quilt that her great aunt Diane made for her. She just stared at it for at least 5 minutes.

We also have been trying to get her to wear all her newborn outfits because she's almost too big for them! I know this won't last long, but we, well I should say I, don't mind her "leaking" out her diaper and needing to change outfits, it's a good way to make sure she wears them all! It's only happened twice, but both times Daddy said it was the most disgusting thing he's ever seen!

These are Addy's friends at church. Camilla is 4 months old and Josiah is just 6 weeks old. It's so fun having new babies at church!

Addy's Firsts...So Far

A great first full day at home today. Our night wasn't too bad, either. We didn't have any heat in the house, that was our biggest complaint! Turns out we have a freon leak somewhere. The HVAC guys came out today to fill us up and they're coming back on Tuesday to find the leak and get it repaired. We took care of that issue last night with a space heater in our bedroom. We're just thankful it's been warm here so the house wasn't too cold.

Back to our sweet Adeline... We gave her a bath today, which she completely found unnecessary. She doesn't want another one for a very long time. She could say the same about diaper changes, she pretty much goes into a full rage every time. The girl likes to have her clothes on!

Grandma E. came to visit us today! She is going to Florida tomorrow to see her parents for a week and then she'll be back to spend more time with us. She babysat Addy today so Steven and I could make a quick run to the grocery store. She also gave Addy her first manicure. Addy's nails were so long, she kept scratching herself in the hospital, so we've been keeping her hands covered.

First visit with Grandma & Grandpa L. in the hospital on Monday.

Making sure Mom & Dad know I DON'T enjoy this at all.

Back to my sweet self once I'm dressed.

My Dad is the best!

Grandma E. works her magic with an emory board, and I don't mind at all.

There's No Place Like Home

Well, the pink blanket doesn't have magic for over night sleeping. Darn. Good news is Dad has the magic touch! He and Addy spent the night cuddling so Mom could sleep, it was so wonderful! We had a nice morning at the hospital getting ready to come home, and then we were discharged just before noon. Addy slept through every part of the drive home. It is so nice to be home. We had a relaxing afternoon of eating and sleeping...for all of us! Steven even mowed the yard before dinner. Now, it's bed time!

Here are some pictures from today. She's so big her going home outfit actually fit her really well! More to come tomorrow.

Sweet Baby Girl

She's just so sweet! We love watching her and her different expressions on her face. We put her on one of her really soft blankets today, and she just loved it. She slept really well in it, so we're hoping it will do the same magic over night tonight! For at least a couple hours at a time!!! The first picture we thought she looked like she was thinking...perhaps about getting a really good night's sleep! She really is so much fun and sweet, we're just loving being parents.

Tomorrow we head for home! We're really excited about that. Call us crazy, but we think it will be nice to just be home. People keep warning us that it gets harder being at home because there isn't a staff there to help us out, but we are up for the challenge. The hospital staff has been great, but it is so hard to catch a nap here because there are people coming and going constantly. They are doing their jobs, of course, but we really haven't needed their help. As long as I get my pain medication on time, we don't ask for anything else! And it's working....I've been feeling great. Really great, actually. More pictures to come!

Adeline Joy is Here!

We are so excited to have our Addy here! We came to the hospital on Sunday morning after my water broke, but she wasn't born until 7:36 on Monday morning. We ended up with a c-section after a whole day and night of only progressing to 8 cm. We really didn't care how she came into this world, as long as she was safe and healthy. God certainly blessed us with a very healthy little girl. She weighed in at 8 lbs 3.5 oz. She's 21.5 inches long, too! Her feet definitely come from her dad's side of the family, very long and lean feet and long toes!

We also had her baptized last night, what an amazing experience! It was so special and incredibly emotional for us. Our pastor and friend, along with his wife, came to the hospital and baptized her in our room. What a big day for Addy! Baptized into God's family less than 12 hours after birth! We'll be celebrating her baptism with an affirmation at church at the end of April.

Here are some pictures from yesterday and today.

Still Pregnant!

This is the picture we took for 39 weeks. It's not the most flattering, that's for sure...but it was taken at 10:30 at night! We had a doctor appointment yesterday and the doctor said that I'm almost 2 cm dilated. She said she's 75% sure I won't make it to next Wednesday's appointment. We shall see! We did set an induction date for March 30, but we're hoping we won't need that! I'm still feeling fine, just getting really anxious to see our little Clover! And, I do keep reminding Clover when she's trying to stretch, that there's only one way out and then she can really stretch! She, obviously, hasn't taken my advice yet!

38 Weeks

The doctor appointment went well this week. I'm still dilated at 1 cm. My doctor wanted to confirm that Clover wasn't breech, so I had an ultrasound to confirm that she is, indeed, head down. The ultrasound wasn't very exciting this time, there's just no room for her to move around, so we couldn't really see much. But, we did confirm she's head down and the lump that usually sticks out on the upper left side of my stomach is her rear end! It's what I suspected, but it was fun to know for sure!

Here's the picture we took this week.

Nursery Pictures

Here are some pictures of the nursery so far. My aunt, Diane, made the quilt and the crib skirt for us! It turned out so cute, we just love it. I need to add some accessories above the changing table and on the shelf, but that will come with time! It's hard to tell in some of these pictures, but the walls are yellow, Hawthorne Yellow, to be exact. The Bible verse above the crib will be her baptism verse. The sign above the window says "I am a dream come true". And she most certainly is! We can't wait to meet her!

Finally, The Requested Pictures!

Wow, it only took me a little more than 5 months to do this! Many of you have requested belly pictures along the way, and I'm sorry it's taken me so long to get this blog updated! I thought I'd start with the latest picture, taken this week at 37 weeks, and work my way back to the first picture we took at 13 weeks.

Things are going really well. I had a doctor appointment on Wednesday, and I'm dilated to 1 cm. Which, I know, doesn't really mean anything, but we're getting there! We're definitely excited to be so close to "d-day"! I think we're pretty much ready for her to come any time. We're still working on decorating her room, but that is coming along too. I'll post pictures of the nursery in the next blog...which won't take me 5 months, I promise!
