Going Bananas!

Addy got her first taste of fruit this weekend, bananas! She wasn't very excited about them. She ate them, but didn't seem to love them. Steven and I were both expecting her to love them, since we prefer fruits over veggies. So far, she likes the veggies more! Don't get me wrong, she eats the bananas, but she inhales carrots, for example. Crazy girl!

Such a sweet baby!

p.s. I fed Addy this weekend, and her protest to me feeding her the solids is over. We struggled through the first breakfast together...little bit of cereal then a little bit of her bottle, but it was smooth sailing after that!

Like Father, Like Daughter

Addy is playing on the same blanket her Daddy did as a little boy. Steven's Godmother made this blanket for him, if you can see the tail end of his name is spelled wrong...his Godmother assumed his mom would use the Biblical spelling "Stephen", but she didn't! I love that story.

Anyway, when we were home this summer, Steven's mom gave us his blanket to take with us. It was a bit worn, shall we say, from how much Steven loved it as a kid. But, my aunt Diane gave it new life fixing the batting and restitched it here and there. Thank you!!! We use it all the time now.

She wasn't exactly smiley when I took this picture because someone decided to talk to herself for an hour this afternoon instead of sleep during nap time! Wendy said she just layed in the crib talking to herself for an hour straight! She didn't fuss or anything, just babbled to herself. So she was a bit tired this evening. Not cranky at all, but just not her normal smiley self!

Behind the Times

Sorry it's been so long! We've continued to stay busy around here. Grandma and Grandpa L. were here for the weekend. Steven and I had a wedding to go to, so they came down to stay with Addy. We actually spent our first night away from our little girl! It went really well. We knew she was in good hands, so we had a really good time.

Here is a picture of Grandma and Addy on Skype talking to my aunt and uncle and cousins. A future in IT, perhaps? If any of you aren't on Skype yet (you know who you are), sign up! It's super easy and so nice to be able to talk and see each other at the same time. All you need is a microphone and webcam. if you are on Skype and don't have our user name, email me so we can connect!

We went to a consignment sale a couple weeks ago and Addy got some new toys. This is one of her favorites...

We hope she shows interest in piano once she's old enough to take lessons...and stay interested in it longer than her parents did as kids!

Her eating is going well. Steven said that finally today she was super interested in eating the solids and he couldn't shovel it in fast enough! She's been exposed to rice cereal, squash, sweet potatoes, and carrots so far. She really hasn't shown a favorite or distaste to any of them. If you ask me, they all stink. I'm looking forward to her eating real food!

Growing Girl

Last Saturday we started adding some veggies to Addy's meals. We started with squash, and she seemed to like it okay. No funny faces or big smiles and it did stay in her mouth! I think that would be considered success. It could be, though, that I wasn't feeding her. So far, I haven't had great luck with feeding her. She always fusses for me when I feed her! She sits so nicely for other people, including Steven. Now, I haven't fed her for a few days, so maybe we're over our hump of "fussing for mom", but I'm certainly not holding my breath! Little stinker. Today she had sweet potatoes and seemed to like them, too.

We're sad our company had to leave today. We've been having so much fun with them! Mackenzie was just wonderful with Addy again. They have a special bond already.

Bow Much Fun!

Addy got some new bows! These fit her head nicely without leaving an indentation! And we have a variety of colors of headbands and flowers that we can mix and match! Gotta love Ebay.

My cousin Jennifer and her family are here visiting through Wednesday! We are super excited to have them here. Mackenzie is literally a built in babysitter! She takes care of Addy so well. The only time she's willing to share is when Addy is spitting up. Then she is more than happy to hand her off!

We've been having a good time hanging out, we even had a fire tonight and made s'mores. Yes, it's over 90 degrees and humid, but the s'mores were definitely worth it!

Summer Baby

It's hot and humid, but this little cutie loves to be outside!

Progress

Addy is doing pretty well with the cereal now. We can feed her with her clothes on now, and she doesn't require a bath after each feeding! I think that's pretty good. I can't say she really loves the cereal, more or less tolerates it. She's way more excited about her bottles than the cereal.

Tonight after she ate her dinner I gave her a bath, then we went outside for a little bit. When we came in I layed her on the Baby Einstein mat, on her back. I left the room just for a minute, and when I came back, this is what I found!

She was so tired! I picked her up and put her in her crib and she took a really good nap. She's rolling over much more these days. For a while I just thought she wasn't interested because she could do it, but she just didn't roll much. Now she does it all the time.

Something else Addy loves these days is playing games. She loves peek-a-boo and patty cake. It is so sweet when she giggles! She still loves it when we read to her, although she'd rather chew on the books than look at the pictures!

Sitting like a big girl in her jammies.

20 Weeks

I can't believe Addy is 5 months old already. I say that all the time, but it's so true, time just keeps flying by!

Such a sweetheart! There isn't really anything else new. Addy had fun showing Daddy how to make a mess with cereal today! I think it's safe to say she's the cleanest baby ever...right after she eats! At least she's getting a lot of play time in the tub, she loves her bath toys, too!

Tomorrow...Steven's birthday!

Cereal Fun

Well, I think I could sum up our experience with cereal in one word...MESSY! So eating off a spoon is certainly not a natural skill, but Addy is doing pretty well trying to figure it out. And when the rice cereal dries it's super crusty. Yum.

Before...

Enjoying this weird stuff my parents think I should eat...

Fingers always help... smear things around...

I'm so done with this!

Immediately following the meal...

We'll give Addy some time to adjust to the cereal then we'll start her on some veggies in a couple weeks. We've been told by several people to not introduce the fruits for a while because babies tend to not like the veggies once they taste the sweet stuff! Can't say I blame them!

Saucer Fun

As I've mentioned before, Addy loves playing in her saucer. Here are a couple pictures of her in it. Yes, it's a slow news day, not much going on! But stay tuned...we're going to try cereal tomorrow!

Look, no hands!

Just one more... :)

Weekend Fun

What a fun and busy weekend! We painted our laundry room on Saturday afternoon. It's not the first room I imagined painting after Addy's room, but we had to repair the walls from when they removed the old countertop and installed the right one. My mom gave me a good idea to paint the laundry room a color that I liked instead of the same color it was, and I was more than happy to ditch that flat paint! No picture of the new laundry room for now, there's too many clothes hanging and I don't feel like folding them right now! Maybe later.

Then Saturday evening we had Chris, Wendy, and Connor over for dinner. They were very kind and brought a birthday cake for me...and 29 candles to go with it! Did I mention that 10 of the 29 candles were the ones that you really can't blow out? It was fun.

Addy is just as cute as ever, trying to grow up too fast. She really wants to sit up by herself. It's amazing from one week to the next how much stronger she gets. Just a week ago we were stuffing a blanket around her in the saucer to help hold her up so she could play with the toys easier, and this week she doesn't need the help. She plays so well and supports herself just fine. She even scoots around in circles constantly to play with all the toys. It is so fun to watch her!

We did capture one picture of her trying to sit up by herself, she lasted for a few seconds before leaning and falling over!

And, thinking back one year ago today...we moved into the hotel, which we thought was only for a week and ended up lasting a month! Amazing how many things have changed in one year!
