Merry Christmas!

Sorry I'm updating a couple days late! We had a great 1st Christmas with Addy. Last year we were dreaming what it would be like to have a 9 mo. old little girl to celebrate Christmas with, and it has been more fun than we ever dreamed. Addy didn't really "get" what was going on. She was a trooper through it all. She wasn't really her normal self this week, then on Christmas Day, we saw why...her 3rd tooth poked through! This time on the top left. But, first, let me back up to last Wed.

My aunt, Mary, came to visit us from Tallahassee. It was a treat for us to have her here, it was the first time she'd met Addy! They got along quite well. Addy enjoyed the extra attention, hugs, and kisses!

Our Christmas was very relaxing. Christmas Eve we did a little shopping, mostly for groceries, then went to Church. We opened presents after church which was fun. Addy enjoyed the ribbons most of all. She liked the toys she got, but then when she was done and it was time for the rest of us to open gifts, she went off on her own to do some reading! So cute!

I really wanted Addy to have a "special" pair of Christmas pajamas to wear on Christmas Eve. Well, as you can see, she was really excited about wearing them! Steven said she looked like a boy. Well, she's practically a clone to her daddy, so what can you expect? The pajamas are cute, and they say "My First Christmas" on them! I like them.

Actually, this is kind of how this month has gone. She really does not like having to get her diaper changed or getting dressed. And she's not particularly excited about having her picture taken, either. Crazy girl.

Christmas morning we went to church and then opened up the gifts Santa left in our stockings! Steven, Addy and I got a new camera! This is very exciting to us because we really needed a new one. We love it. It takes pictures so much faster than our old one, not that that would be a hard feature to beat these days. It's just great. Thanks, Santa!

Notice Addy's happy theme in all these pictures? Oh well, it was fun anyway! I just have to say...I had black tights for Addy to wear with her Christmas dress, and I lost them after we had her picture taken with Santa last week! We went out to eat afterward, and I changed her in the restaurant and I'm pretty sure I lost them there. I didn't realize this, of course, until Christmas morning. :) So, thus the red tights. Not the look I was going for, but it worked in a pinch.

Hope all of you had a wonderful Christmas. We certainly were reminded how blessed we truly are! For me, I celebrated this Christmas from a different perspective, now being a mother myself. What a precious, wonderful gift to all of us!

All Better

Addy is over her cold, or whatever it was. The fever broke yesterday and she started to get her appetite back, and she's in a much better mood! She's back to her old self again, and we're so glad to have her back.

She spent some time playing with one of her Christmas presents she got from her friend, Nina. She wasn't so sure about it at first, but then she got into it.

Then she was just being silly!

We're excited for Christmas around here. Tonight is Steven's last night of work and tomorrow is my last day of work for the week! My Mom is on her way to our house as I type this. We are very thankful she got on a flight tonight, we just didn't want to take any weather risks! Well, not here of course, but in MN!!! :) It's nice here!!!

9 Month Stats

We took Addy in for her 9 month well baby visit on Friday. She's right on track doing everything she should be doing. She weighed in at 19 lbs 12 oz and 29" long. Those numbers equal 90 % on the scale for height and 70% for weight. No shots this time, so that was a bonus. They did prick her toe, though, to check her hemoglobin. Next visit will be the day before her 1st birthday! Where oh where did this year go?

Unfortunately, Addy has caught another cold. This time a fever has joined the party. Poor thing, it just came on today. She's extra fussy this time, too. This is the first time, I think, she's acting how she actually feels. She normally just doesn't play as much or doesn't eat as much, but this time, she has Addy-tude! "Do what I want or I'm going to scream!" I mean, I don't blame her, I'm sure she feels like crap, but wow.

She did get a little extra nap in tonight with Grandpa L. She was quite comfy sleeping just how she likes to. And yes, she was breathing!

Sorry, that's it for pictures. It was a slow picture week! I'll work on getting some good ones this week. Shouldn't be too hard with Christmas just around the corner!

Just Plain Cute!

We had a fun weekend. Grandma and Grandpa L. came down on Saturday. We got Christmas pictures and Addy's 9 month pictures taken. She was a bit of a tough client this time. She wasn't very generous with the smiles. The people there trying to make her smile really tried hard, but I think Addy just wanted to say to them, "you just aren't funny". She seemed more annoyed with them than amused, that's for sure! We did get some great pictures, though! I'll try to post those pictures later.

So, you reap what you sow, right? Well, most of you know that Steven and I are horrible when it comes to eating veggies. We're just picky, and we know it's not a good thing. But, nonetheless, it is what it is. So we went out to dinner with Addy on Friday night, and one of us ordered carrots in order to give them to Addy along with some chicken. We thought she was doing really well eating her dinner, we were quite pleased, actually. Then, it was time to leave and as I was moving the highchair to get out, I looked down, and this is what I saw!

The picture isn't the best because I took it with my phone, but you get the idea. Little stinker! We had no idea she was pushing the carrots onto the floor! Notice there is only one piece of chicken down there? I'm guessing that fell by accident. Like parents, like daughter. We just laughed. Actually, the funny thing is that if we feed them to her on a spoon she eats them and really seems to like them! Funny girl.

Dadadada

Addy said "dadada" for the first time yesterday! Steven had already left for work, so he didn't get to hear it. Then, tonight she kept saying it while we were eating dinner, but Steven was at work again. I called him right away, yesterday and today, but she wouldn't say it while I was on the phone, of course. But, I did get it on video today!!!

Our little girl is changing so much every day. Saturday we were out to lunch and she mastered drinking out of a straw! It surprised her the first time she sucked the water up herself! I had been helping her before by plugging on end of the straw with my finger then letting the water run into her mouth. But now she's using her sippy cups like a champ!

She loves walking between her toys and the furniture. She is so proud of herself when she does it and gets a little frustrated when the two objects she wants to walk between aren't close enough. In the first picture, she went from the toy behind her to the play pen to the round table! Smart cookie.

And, finally tonight, my turn has come...to open the tupperware drawer in the kitchen and let Addy have at it. I was cooking, I know, shocking, but true, and wanted to keep her in sight, so that was my solution. She loved it. It was like a whole new world for her! She liked emptying it and standing on the lids and sliding her feet back and forth. Future skater, perhaps? We'll see, but it definitely entertained her. I'm curious if she'll remember where that drawer is the next time she's crawling through the kitchen?

Attention Getter

Addy is feeling much better today! Her nose has stopped running for the most part. Now I think I'm coming down with it. Hopefully I'll be over it as quickly as she was!

Addy has some new duds thanks to her grandmothers! She attracts so much attention when she's out with her new coat and hat on that her Grandma L. found for her. So many people stop and point and smile at her!

She's also sporting some new Oshkosh overalls that Grandma E. got her. She is so cute in them! It's nice that there is plenty of room to grow in them. She'll get a lot of miles out of these!

Sick Baby

Addy has come down with a cold. Poor thing can hardly breathe she's so congested. We took her to the doctor today because her snot turned from clear to green. I called and talked to a nurse and she said because of Addy's age they wanted to see her. Good news is her lungs, ears, and throat all checked out great. Just an icky head cold. So far, Steven and I have avoided it. But, that didn't stop us from enjoying some quiet snuggle time with Addy tonight!

She weighed in at 19 lbs 11 oz today!

Addy has also been getting more brave as she walks along the furniture. She's starting to hang on with just one hand and let go completely. She's pulling up on EVERYTHING and putting everything in her reach into her mouth! This picture was of the first time she pulled herself all the way up in her little "play area".

She's also pulling herself up in her crib all the way to standing. It's funny to walk in her room and see her peering over the crib! She's just growing up so fast!

Hoping she'll start to feel better tomorrow. I'm guessing she and Daddy will stay in their pajamas all day! Lucky ducks!
