Flood of April 2010
Oh.my.goodness. We got some rain today!!! We were under a thunderstorm watch/warning pretty much all day and a tornado watch/warning for most of the early evening. It rained on and off all day, and with some pretty hefty downpours to boot! Well, our creek in front of our house barely kept it all contained. It was completely dry this morning, but tonight was a completely different story. And we were very lucky. Just 5 houses down from us was a totally different scene. The creek bed isn't as deep down there and they had water knee high in their garages and flowing water running through their crawl spaces under their houses.
We took some pictures with the help of a flashlight, but it was so dark it's kind of hard to see. The first picture is from a few months ago when it snowed to try and give you an idea of what the creek normally looks like and how deep it is. The next picture is the same view tonight.

Here's a closer look at the water coming up over the edge into our yard.

Thankfully, the water is also receding quite quickly. Addy and I went down to check out or neighbors' houses and came back about 20-30 minutes later and here's the same view as the picture above when we came back home.

I'm nervous to look at our garden tomorrow. Not sure how our little seedlings handled all this rain!

Daddy's Hat
Addy has really been interested in one of Steven's hats recently. She loves putting it on. And she looks so cute in it, too! We laugh that Addy's head isn't much smaller than her Daddy's head! If it weren't for the pink pajamas Addy could easily pass for a boy, too! That's why we keep the bows around. :)

Poor thing, her face is all greasy again with Aquaphor. Her nose and cheeks are so dry and chapped from us wiping her nose so much. I think we're setting a record this week with taking baths...she's had one every night! It seems like it's the only time her nose isn't running and she just enjoys playing in the tub. That, and her drool stinks! Seriously. I don't know if it's normal, but her neck is so stinky by the end of the day from all her drool!
On a side note...Addy is getting really close to walking! She's starting to get more brave about taking a couple steps on her own to get to a toy or to something she can hang on to. She's taken 5 steps going between Steven and me, but that's about it. Today she was taking steps with out being prompted. I don't think it will be long now...

Laundry Helper

Addy was "helping" daddy with some laundry yesterday!
Behind her sweet smile you can sort of tell she's not feeling very well. Over the weekend Addy had a molar poke through! Poor thing, the other 3 molars are coming in right behind this one. Her gums are swollen and red. She's got the runny nose to go along with all this fun, too. She's been tugging on her right ear for a couple days so we took her in to the doctor for a quick check to make sure there was no ear infection, and there wasn't!!! The doctor said her ears looked really good, and we're thankful for that. The doctor also said that it's common for kids to tug on their ears when the molars come in because the pain is closer to their ears. Makes sense. She's also up one pound from a month ago. She now weighs 22lbs 10oz!!!

The Garden is Planted!
We got our garden planted today! Steven and I intended to get all the planting done while Addy was napping this afternoon, but we ended up talking with our neighbor instead. That means Addy got to "help" us when she woke up. And what a big help she was! She was doing her best to remove all the dirt from the garden and un-plant everything as I planted it. She obviously has short term memory issues because she ate the dirt again. Hopefully Miracle Gro is kid-friendly.

This picture doesn't do justice to show exactly how much Addy covered herself in dirt. It was pretty funny. She had a great time, though. I think she's really going to enjoy seeing our garden grow as much as we will...hopefully it will grow! Here's an "after" picture once we had everything planted:

We're starting small this year with our garden. We planted tomatoes, green pepper, onions, and zucchini. If we have some success, we'll plant more next year!

Addy Loves...
...sloppy joes! This girl can eat a whole one on her own! She LOVES them.

...playing with kleenex or toilet paper. She loves to tear it up into little pieces and then eat it. The kleenex she especially likes to pull out one by one, then shred and eat.
"Look, Mom!"

She climbed up on the couch by herself and did this while I loaded our dinner plates in the dishwasher! She's a quick one!
"What do you mean I can't play with the kleenex?"

...playing in the dirt. Steven and his dad built us a box garden when they were here for Addy's birthday. We haven't planted anything yet, but we plan to soon. So, we thought we'd get out there and mix up the dirt a bit and get the few weeds out that have grown in there. Addy had so much fun! I told her twice not to eat the dirt, then I gave up and just let her eat it!!! She decided on her own that it wasn't all that great.

...wagon rides! Grandpa L. spent a lot of time pulling our sweet girl around today. I think she could live in that wagon most days!

Addy has also been using some new words. She really likes to say "ball" and gets excited when she sees one, too! We bought her an Elmo toothbrush, which she also loves, and kept saying "Elmo" as we finished up our shopping. She hasn't said it again since! Stinker. She's not into performing, that is for sure. She still isn't walking on her own. She can, she just won't. She has taken 5 steps in a row, but she wasn't as excited about it as we were!

Happy Belated Easter!
Hope you all had a great Easter, we sure did!!! Sorry for the blog hiatus, but there was no time for blogging in the last week! We had a house full of guests for Easter and the week following. We had so much fun! My cousin, Jennifer, came with her family from FL. They recently moved to Liberty Youth Ranch and brought 3 wonderful girls with them! It was so fun to have teenagers around the house. It really reminded me that I'm....um, not a teenager anymore! It was truly wonderful getting to know them. Of course, they were all very sweet to Addy! It took her a little while to warm up, she was glued to Grandpa and Grandma L. while they were here for the weekend, but then she really enjoyed all the extra attention! We spent the week hanging around the house and doing some touristy stuff. We were blessed with great weather, too!

These are kind of blurry, but I love them!

Mackenzie was always up before anyone else in the morning, so when Addy woke up, Mackenzie was on duty! I think both of them love that time together in the morning. So sweet together!
We really miss these guys. They had to go back yesterday morning, and it's been so quiet around here. We loved the noise and all the activity! We wish we lived closer so we could see each other more often. Thanks for the great week girls, and Chris!

We do have Grandpa L. coming down on Tuesday to watch Addy while Steven and I work this week. Wendy is on vacation with her family. Then Grandma L. will be down for the weekend.
