18 Months

Our sweet Adeline is 18 months old already! And she is all girl these days. She LOVES shoes. She loves trying on everyone's shoes and putting her own shoes on. She loves making anything she can find into a telephone. And she loves her dolls. Addy has developed a serious addiction to raisins. She asks for them morning, noon, and night. She also likes dried apricots.

We went to Addy's well check this morning and her stats are really consistent. She is 33" long and weighs 24 lbs 11 oz. She's at 85% on the scale for height and 60% for weight. She's on track to be about 5'6" or 5'7" when she's older, just like me! She's doing all the things she should be at this age like saying more than 15 words (I think she says around 50 or so), wanting us to look at/watch what she's doing, and showing stubbornness. :) She got the last of her vaccines until she goes to kindergarten! That just seems so far away. We also had her get her first flu shot.

Last night we enjoyed a night out at the Taste of Our Town. Good food, good friends, good times. We met our friends Ben, Jessica, and Rex there and had so much fun! Getting Addy and Rex to look at the camera was no easy feat all night, but we took what we could get!

Addy with Mommy and Daddy, and her balloon!

The Peek-A-Boo Playtown was open for free, so we went in to check it out. We'd never been there and wanted to see if Addy would be interested. And she was. She LOVED this doll stroller. A LOT!

This is what happened when we tried to get her to play with something else:

But, she was satisfied when we showed her this police car! In fact, she really liked this, too!

Notice she's already talking and driving at the same time? Crazy girl!

When it was time to leave, we experienced our first major melt down. I mean, she CRIED and screamed. The girl was NOT happy with us. At least she wasn't the only kid crying in there so we didn't get too many stares. :) We'll definitely have to go back. Or just get her a doll stroller at home!

Like Father, Like Daughter

I LOVE taking pictures of Addy when she's sleeping. Sometimes she just looks so sweet and other times it's because of the funny position she's lying in. Last night, she reminded me of her Daddy. He sleeps just like this!

Grandma and Grandpa L. came to visit us this weekend! We had a bonfire on Friday night which was fun. Addy enjoyed going back and forth between Grandma and Grandpa.

Grandma and Addy shared some popsicles, too. Addy was double fisting it for a while, but finally decided to share!

We didn't do anything exciting while they were here, but we had a very nice visit. Addy is really coming into her own independence and made it very clear that when Grandma and Grandpa are around, she only wants them to do things for her! Of course, they don't mind that one bit :).

Grandparents Day

It was Grandparents Day at Mackenzie and Katie's school this week. Unfortunately their Grandparents couldn't be here for it, so Addy stepped in as their special guest.

Mackenzie's class celebrated on Monday.

And Katie's class celebrated on Wednesday.

Addy was a big hit both days! To say Addy was never short on attention is a huge understatement!

Addy's New Playhouse

As I mentioned in the last post, Addy has a new playhouse, courtesy of Grandma E. Addy loves her new playhouse, but she especially loves the phone that came with it!

This playhouse is so cute and fun, all the girls love playing in it. The fireplace is also a trap door! So fun. Thanks, Grandma E.!

Labor Day Weekend = FUN!

We had a great Labor Day weekend! It was great to have 3 days off to hang out and just have some fun around the house. Saturday morning Chris made us a great pancake breakfast. Mackenzie and Katie ate their breakfast in their "new" playhouse! Addy actually got a new playhouse last week (more on that next time), and the girls have been decorating the box it came in to make it their own!

Then Jen got the bubbles out for the girls, which is always fun!

And what goes perfectly with Labor Day weekend? Camping! We thought about going camping for the weekend, but never finalized any plans and knew that getting a last minute reservation was very unlikely, so we set up camp for Chris, Jen, and the girls in our back yard. Our tent isn't big enough for all of us, and Steven and I were happy to let them use our tent! It was good to get some of our camping stuff out again. We really haven't used it since we moved.

While the boys got a fire going, the girls fed our neighbor's horses!

We also played frisbee golf! We packed in as much fun as we could!!! Our game of frisbee golf ended in the dark, so these are the best pictures we have!

Our high temp on Saturday was only 78 degrees, and once the sun went down, the temp went down with it! It felt so good to sit around the fire and warm up. The s'mores helped a little, too!

We bundled the girls up and tucked them into bed. The low was in the 50s, so they really were bundled up! I told Chris and Jen to get in the picture, just to document they roughed it, too!

Then while the girls drifted off to dream, we sat by the fire and played cards! So much fun!

They all made it in the tent until about 5:30 a.m. and then came inside because they were too cold!

Sunday we went to church and then we each had different cookouts to go to. That was fun! I wish I would have taken a picture of Addy over at our friend's house because I didn't go prepared and Addy had to borrow her friend Rex's swim shirt and a baseball hat! She was so cute!

We met up back at home later in the afternoon, and then went on to repeat our Saturday night fun with frisbee golf and a fire. Chris and the girls decided to give sleeping in the tent another try on Sunday night. Jen opted to sleep inside and just keep the bed warm in case anyone needed to come in and warm up! It wasn't as cold Sunday night, and all 3 stayed in the tent until about 7:00 a.m.! They did great and had fun sleeping out there!

The first part of our day today was pretty lazy, just getting things done around the house. Then this afternoon we picked up a babysitter for the kids and the moms and dads went to a movie and dinner!

Back to reality tomorrow. It was such a nice break, we really had a lot of fun this weekend and got a lot of good rest! Did I mention that Addy slept in every day this weekend, 8:45 - 9:15 all 3 days? Such a sweet girl!

Another MN Trip!

Sorry for abandoning the blog for a little while. Hopefully this very long post will make up for it!

Last week Thursday Steven, Addy, and I flew up to MN for a long weekend. Addy was a great little traveler, as usual. She didn't get much of her morning nap and no afternoon nap at all. Then with all the excitement she was up later than usual, too. Our sweet girl slept in until 10 a.m. on Friday morning! She's never slept in that late!

On Friday, Steven and I went to the Great MN Get Together! The State Fair! We LOVE the state fair and hadn't been since we moved 3 years ago. It was so good to be back! We went with some friends, so that made it all the more fun.

While we were at the fair, Grandma & Grandpa L. took Addy to the MN Zoo. My uncle John was there, too, so that was extra fun. Addy had never been to the zoo to see the animals. We took her to our zoo for halloween last year, but since it was night time, the animals weren't out. Addy had a great time, she loves animals!

Saturday one of my cousins hosted my dad's side of the family at her neighborhood's private beach on a lake. Addy really loved the jet skis. No, not actually riding them, just sitting on them. And "driving" them. With Grandma. She sat with Daddy for a little bit, but she really preferred Grandma. :)

We took a pontoon ride, and I was really impressed she didn't mind wearing the lifejacket.

Just cute!

Sunday we spent the afternoon with Steven's family. Unfortunately, Grandma E. had to work, but we were so happy to spend time with the rest of the family! I love these pictures of Addy "talking" with her aunt Staci, Grandpa, Uncle Joel, and Great Granny!

Then Staci brought out the sidewalk chalk, and that was a big hit!

Monday my mom had a couple of doctor appointments. We met with the radiation oncologist in the morning and the medical oncologist in the afternoon. Chemo is done, she completed her last cycle on Aug. 11, and we are so grateful she tolerated it so well. We're also grateful that her last scan was completely CLEAR! She had a complete response to the chemo! Even with that great news, it was decided that some radiation would be beneficial to offer even better results of local control. Only 17 treatments is necessary, so that's really good news. The side effects will be minimal, mainly a sore throat and some reddening of the skin. Radiation starts on Tuesday, so keep her in your prayers!

Our flight home Monday night was very uneventful as well. We really are just so thankful that Addy is such a good traveler!

Just a couple more pictures from our weekend...Addy and Grandpa L. love to be outside together. They go for walks, sit in their chairs, and hang out in the garage!

...Grandma bought Addy a doll that came with a little carrier and a bottle. She loves to carry it around and she even caught on to feeding the baby really quickly. Check out the multi-tasking!

...And a bubble mohawk, courtesy of Grandma!

It was a great trip for sure. We've kept a pretty busy pace since we've been home, too. Now we're looking forward to a long weekend to hang out and maybe camp in the backyard!? We'll see. Stay tuned!
