First Trip to the Dentist

Last week we took Addy to the dentist for the first time, and she did great! We went to a pediatric dentist, and we were very impressed with them!

Addy didn't want to lie down on the bed they have, so she sat up to have her teeth cleaned. The hygienist said that was really common, that lying down can make the experience more intimidating for kids. They had The Lion King movie playing on the tv screens built into the ceiling.

No cavities! We left there like we'd been to a carnival. They gave her a new t-shirt, prizes, ribbons, and a new toothbrush!

We also started our search for a preschool. I can't believe it's that time already! It is far more difficult than I thought it would be! We visited one last week, and it was okay. Certainly was less impressive than we were expecting. So the search continues! We have a couple more that we'd like to visit, so we're hopeful one of them will be a good fit.

Spring Football

Last weekend we had the opportunity to attend Vanderbilt's spring football game! Apparently this is common for colleges to play a spring game, against themselves, with coaches on the field, and real officials officiating the game. I had never heard of this, but thought it would be fun to go, especially since they were having fireworks after the game!

Steven was working and Jen and Chris weren't able to go, but the girls wanted to go. We had so much fun! I'm so glad we went. The girls all thought it was cool, too. They got pom poms when we got there. The crowd was really small, so we could move around and sit in different spots throughout the game. We sat in the end zone and behind the band.

The fireworks were fun to watch, too.

After the fireworks, they let all the fans onto the field. The girls really thought that was cool!

We got to walk out through the tunnel, which is where the locker rooms are, so we walked out with some of the players. Two of them even stopped for a picture with the girls!

Number 80 talked to us for a little while. Such a nice guy! He was impressed that we payed attention to the game and thanked us for coming out to the game and supporting Vanderbilt football.

It was really a fun time and something I hope we can do again next year!

Easter 2012

Addy got her picture taken with the Easter bunny. And she loved it. I wasn't surprised, she couldn't wait to see him!

This picture doesn't reflect how excited she was, and I'm a little disappointed the photographer didn't capture her smile...because she was smiling!

Before we went to church on Friday night, we had time to go to the park!

This last picture cracks me up. She would walk to the end of this teeter totter thing and then "pose" by looking up to the sky. It was so funny!

Saturday we went to Jen's house to color Easter eggs and decorate cookies.

Well, Mackenzie and Katie decorated the cookies while Addy was napping. :)

Sunday morning Addy woke up to see what the Easter bunny brought her. She was excited about her new soccer ball and nail polish! The candy was a big hit, too!

Addy and Grandma using our new Easter gift!

After church we got some more pictures.

Jen and family came over and we had a wonderful lunch!

After lunch we played wiffle ball in the back yard. It was such a beautiful day!

I have to include this very sweet story about coloring the eggs. The very first egg Addy colored was cracked. She picked the egg on her own, and the color for it, green. While it was drying, Mackenzie looked at it and said, "Hey look, it's a Logan egg!" The way the color was on the egg left a pattern that looked like a leaf. And it wasn't on the cracked part. Just a sweet reminder of Logan on Easter. It made my heart smile.

Dance Update

Dance is going well. No more tears! In fact, Addy said to us, "I'm not going to cry at dance class, that's no fun." We're glad she's enjoying it now!

When we signed her up, they let us know that she wouldn't be able to participate in the recital since they ordered the costumes a couple months earlier. But, as it turns out, another little girl in her class, who ordered a costume, won't be able to be in the recital because of a conflict for her family. So, Addy was able to get her costume and can now be in the recital!

Last week was picture week. Check out this show stopper!

Can't wait for the recital!

Palm Sunday

She's growing up so fast. We find ourselves saying that so often these days! This year, Addy joined the big kids and carried her own palm branch into church for Palm Sunday!

Here's Addy with her friend, Josiah, before church:

Aren't they just cute? Their only 5 weeks apart in age.

This one's blurry, but it's so cute!

Then it was time to line up:

Addy did a great job...of listening to me. The night before I was telling her about walking into church and placing a palm branch at the foot of the cross. I told her she'd walk up to the front, put the palm branch at the cross and then come sit with me.

What I didn't realize is that the kids were supposed to walk around the sanctuary once before placing their palm branches at the cross.

So, just before the kids walked in, I told Addy to stay in line and follow her leader. Well, she remembered what I told her the night before! She walked up the center aisle, placed her palm branch at the foot of the cross, and then came right back down the center aisle (totally against the flow of traffic!) to the back of the church where I was waiting for her! It was cute and funny all at the same time.

Addy's been doing really well at memorizing songs lately. She just surprises us by singing entire songs out of the blue. With exception of the alphabet song, she doesn't sing just part of a song, it's the whole thing!

A few weeks ago I started singing a song I learned as a kid for Palm Sunday. It goes, "Ho ho hosanna ha ha hallelujah he he he died for me and I'm so glad he did." Addy loved it and sings it all the time now!
