Warrior Dash 2012

That's right, we are warriors!!!  My friend, Mike, from work talked me into this!  Steven was excited about it as soon as I mentioned it to him, but I was more nervous!  Let me just say, I'm so glad we did this!  It was such a fun day.

The warrior dash is held all over the place, it's the world's largest running series!  And it's not just a 5k run, there's 11 obstacles along the way!  That's the really fun part!  They include mud hills, crawling under mesh and barbed wire, jumping across tires, climbing over parked cars, jumping/climbing over a 3 1/2 ft wall then crawling under barbed wire, climbing up and down a slanted ladder wall, climbing up a slanted wall with the help of a rope, climbing up and down a cable rope wall, walking up a slatted ramp and across a 4 in. plank then back down the slatted ramp, walking through a bungee web, jumping across a line of fire, and the final one...the mud pit!

Here we are before the race:

Heading for the second to last obstacle (jumping the fire...yes, I'm apparently very excited!) And, see, we're not that dirty yet!

Then came the final obstacle, the mud!  No other way to get to the finish line than to swim through the mud!

We finished the race in 43 min 49 sec.  The fastest time was around 23 min and the slowest around 90 min.  There were over 6,000 warriors having a blast on Saturday!

Here's our whole group after the race:

(Steven, me, Leslie (therapist), Mike (physicist), Amos (dosimetrist), Amanda (Robbie's wife), Robbie (dosimetrist))

Now, I don't generally drink beer, but THIS beer tasted so good afterward!  And, it came free with the race! :)

After we did our best to get cleaned up (and we didn't do too badly!), we enjoyed turkey legs for lunch!

We also donated our muddy shoes!  There's a company that takes them and pressure washes them clean and gives them to those who can't afford shoes.  Check out that pile!

I'll admit, we were more than happy to donate our shoes.  I can't imagine trying to get them clean again!

Such a fun day, did I mention that?  Everyone of us agreed we'd definitely do this again next year!  In fact, I think this is something everyone should do just once. It was just that much fun!  And, no, you do not have to be a "runner" to do this.  If you can walk 3 miles, you can do this!

While Steven and I were at the Warrior Dash, Addy was with Jen and her family.  She got to have a sleepover and loved every minute of it!  Not sure Kenzie enjoyed Addy waking her up at 6 a.m., though!  She didn't actually get up at that time, but she was awake!

Chapel Day

Addy attends chapel every Wednesday at school.  She LOVES chapel day.  Everyone wears a uniform on chapel day, which is one of the reasons Addy loves chapel day so much!  She loves her uniform!

Isn't she just the cutest?

First Half of September Catch Up

September has been fairly quiet for us, so I'm going to try to catch up on the last couple weeks all at once!

Addy and Katie playing dress up, Katie being the fashion designer:

Maggie and Miley hanging out with Katie:

Out to breakfast on Labor Day, Addy's juice came in a coffee cup!  She loved it!

Addy sort of sang in church for the first time during our church picnic last weekend.  I say sort of because she'd only been able to attend Sunday School once to practice the song they sang, so she didn't know it, but she stood with the rest of the kids and looked cute!

Swinging after the service, before the picnic:

 Picnic food is always fun!

Dancing to some music that was playing at the picnic:

Vikings fan playing outside:

Grandma & Grandpa L. came to visit for a long weekend.  It was fun for Addy to be picked up from school by them on Thur. and Fri.

Steven and I had parent/teacher fellowship on Thur. night.  It was fun to meet the other parents and hear more about the school and specifically Addy's class.  Her teacher told us that Addy really is her most well behaved student this year!  She said there have been a couple days so far that Addy is the only one that gets a treat for listening and following directions!  Addy has 3 other girls and 1 boy in her class.

Addy helped Grandma and Grandpa feel better by playing doctor:

Saturday we got to go to the Vanderbilt vs Presbyterian football game!  Addy enjoys going to things like that.  She got tired for a little bit, but then perked up again and cheered the Commodores on!

Even though it was hot sitting out there, Addy was using my hoodie as her "long hair"!  By the 3rd quarter we were all plenty hot and decided to leave.  The 'dores were ahead 41-0, so we weren't worried about them losing!  They ended up winning 58-0.

Once we got home, we changed and went swimming at Mrs. Wendy's house!

In other news for this month, last week Addy stayed at school all day for 2 days!  Wendy asked us if we could use her for back up or on days that Addy doesn't have school instead of everyday for lunch and nap.  Addy did very well with the change.  She's still getting used to napping at school and didn't fall asleep there last week, but I have a feeling that will change the more she's there.  The great news is she loves the after school care teacher!  She thinks it's fun to stay and eat lunch with her friends, too.

Homecoming Week Aug. 27-31, 2012

Addy experienced her first homecoming celebration!  The school she attends goes through 12th grade.  She really didn't get what it was all about, but enjoyed the festivities all week long!  I'm kicking myself for not taking pictures each day to document the fun.  Here's the list of activities:

Monday:  wear your clothes inside out and backwards
Tuesday:  wear your pajamas to school
Wednesday:  dress like a twin (Addy wore her Belle dress and brought her Belle doll with her!)
Thursday:  include candy in your outfit (the only day I took a picture!)
Friday:  wear school colors

For Thursday I made her a hair clip with Sweethearts, and her shirt says "I love love love love sweets".

Then Friday night was the football game, and Addy's class got to be in the parade at half time, along with the rest of the school.  She thought that was great.  She loves parades!

Their homecoming theme was "The Sweet Life of HCA" and every class used a different candy to decorate their float.  The preschool was Reese's Pieces.  Addy's class wore the orange shirts.

This is Kylee, currently Addy's BFF.  Aren't these 2 just the cutest?

Aug. 26, 2012 Katie's Baptism

We had the privilege of attending Katie's baptism on Sunday, Aug. 26.  Chris baptized her.

Our family with the special girl of the day:

After church, we went to their house for lunch and to play some games.

The girls were trying to pop balloons.  Kenzie and Katie were able to pop them pretty easily.  Addy, on the other hand, took a lot more effort to pop a balloon!

The girls made these awesome cupcakes, too!  They were so good!

Then they played with water balloons!

It was a really great day celebrating Katie's baptism.  She planned her entire party on her own and did a great job!
