Weekend Trip to MN

Last Friday Addy and I went to MN for my cousin, Tammy's, wedding.  Steven had to work on Saturday, so he didn't get to go with us.  Addy is such a good traveler.  She always has been, but this was the first time we boarded the plane with just my purse.  No extra bag for Addy with a variety of things to keep her busy.  I brought a small notebook and a little makeup bag with crayons, 2 princesses, and a car in it along because they fit in my purse, but that was it!  And she did great.

When we got to my parents house, we got to visit with my aunts Diane and Carol and my cousins Michelle and Trish and their kids.

Saturday morning Addy played:

For lunch we went to visit our friends Jerik, Susan, Nina and Ema.  We hadn't seen them in over a year!  It was really nice to catch up and let the girls play.

Addy, Ema, Nina...clearly Addy passed Nina up in height even though Nina is 15 mo older!

After lunch we went back to my parent's house to meet up with Steven's parents.  They were taking Addy for the night while my parents and I attended my cousin Tammy's wedding.  They stayed at a hotel and took Addy swimming.  I think they all had a good time, it was just too short of a visit!

Looking good Fuzzy Papa!

Tammy and Kyle had a beautiful wedding.  It was really nice to catch up with family at the wedding, too!  It had been a few years since I'd seen so many of them at one time.

Tammy, me, Jodi:

Sunday morning we picked Addy up on the way to the airport.  It was a bummer it was such a short weekend, but we were thankful that we were able to be there for the time that we were.

Grandma handoff:

At the airport, Addy found so many "neat" things and wanted pictures with them all!

Addy "driving" the tram:

Before boarding, we made quite a few laps on the moving walkway:

Addy chilling on the plane with her sunglasses on.  It was too bright she said!

We squeezed in as much as we could during our short trip.  We were thankful that we were able to make the trip, just wish we could've stayed a little longer...have I mentioned that yet?!

The First Half of February

A quick recap of the first half of the month, since I haven't done well at keeping up!

We made Valentine's Day cookies:

Katie worked on a performance for her and Addy to perform for us:

We celebrated Jen's birthday on Feb. 5 with a dinner at Cheddar's.  Mackenzie ordered the club sandwich, but did't realize there were 2 sandwiches stacked  :)

Chris had to leave early for a softball meeting and I forgot to get the picture before he left.

We made Valentine's Day pancakes...pink hearts:

Addy and I went skating again while Steven was at work.  She did so well!  She was a little more brave this time and actually skated on her own!  And she enjoyed it, which was so fun for me.  She didn't want to leave!

M&M snack break while skating:

We skated for an hour and then left to go to the girls basketball game at Vanderbilt.  Clearly it was a busy day for Addy, she fell asleep half way through the first half.  She didn't wake up until there was about 7 minutes left of the second half!  Sweet girl.

Then on Valentine's Day Addy ate pink pancakes again.

All ready for school:

Her Valentine box for school.  She gave out Tinkerbell valentines to her friends.
Addy standing in front of all the special treats they had at school!

The beautiful roses Addy and Steven sent to me at work:

Addy got a balloon from her teacher and a lot of treats from her friends.  Steven and I sent her that single rose behind her.  The high schoolers were selling them as a fundraiser.
For our Valentine's Day dinner we went to Jen and Chris's house like we did last year.  The boys and kids were in charge.  Jen and I just had to show up!  They did such a great job and made it a really fun and special evening.

Nice, Chris.  He had 2 chances to take a decent picture... :)

So that was the first half of February...  Let's see if I can do better keeping up with the second half!

Crazy Weather Week

This week we've experienced nearly every weather condition possible!  Our temperature has gone from 70 to 17, we've had rain, snow, sleet, and tornadoes.  We actually had a tornado touch down on our street about 3:30 Wednesday morning.  We didn't know it until driving to work in the morning.  We were in our shelter waiting out the storm...without power.  No cell phones, no tv, no internet.  We really had no clue what was going on around us.

The tornado touched down about 3/4 of a mile down the street, and thankfully everyone was ok.  It took out a garage and some fencing.  Also, the path it took was very narrow sparing the neighboring houses.

I tried to get a few pictures of the damage, but it's hard to do while driving!  Every time I've tried to stop and take pictures, another car comes behind me and I have to keep moving.

Some of the damaged fence and some of the steel roofing from the garage hanging from the power lines:

This house is across the street from the garage that was hit by the tornado.  The green material is the roof.  There was debris everywhere, in the trees, creek, power lines, and yards.  This is just a little of it.

The good news is no one was injured when this tornado touched down.  We feel so blessed there was no damage at our house.

Spirit Week

It was spirit week at Addy's school this week which meant each day had a theme for how they were to dress for school.

Monday:  Cowboys and Indians

Tuesday:  Decade day (1960s if it's not obvious)

Wednesday:  Wacky Tacky
Thursday:  Under the Sea  (only Addy didn't go to school on Thursday because she woke up from her nap on Wednesday with a fever.  She still had a fever at 3:00 am on Thursday, so we kept her home.  But, if she had gone to school, this is what she would've worn...minus the pajamas!)

Friday:  School Colors  (I blurred the name of her school on her shirt, just for internet safety)  And her shoes...her choice  :)
