Week O' Fun

Katie and the rest of the third graders performed folk dances from around the world.  We went to watch and really enjoyed it.  She did a great job!

Friday Addy wore her clover shirt to school.  When I took her picture she said we should take one together since I was wearing green, too.

Saturday morning Mackenzie babysat for us so Steven and I could do our 7 mile run.  We are so thankful Mackenzie is close and old enough to babysit!

Saturday was a beautiful day and we played outside and had our first picnic on the back porch.  Addy LOVED it!  The girl loves picnics!

Softball!  Addy hasn't loss her skills since last fall, and was super excited to play a little softball again.  One difference is this time around she made a point to tap the bat on the ground before hitting the ball!  She even made sure I did that when it was my turn to bat :)

Sunday was St. Patrick's Day so we all wore our clover shirts :)

Addy and I have also been doing some baking in the last few days.  We made St. Patrick's Day and Easter cookies just for fun.  And then we also made cupcakes for her to take to school to celebrate her birthday.  Friday her class is having an Easter egg hunt, so her teacher and I agreed we should celebrate her birthday before Friday!

Addy wearing her birthday shirt along with a skirt and shoes of her choice!

We also had Addy's 4 year old well check today with her doctor.  She weighed in at 36 lbs (62 %ile) and measured 42 inches (92 %ile).  She gained 6 lbs and 3 inches since her 3rd birthday!

I laughed so hard when we were driving home.  Addy was very pleased with how her appointment went.  Her exact words:  "I like my doctor.  She's a really nice doctor.  She didn't punch me or push me or hit me.  She just checked to see how much I growed since I was 3!"

A few more stats:  She wears 4T clothes, but even some of those pants are getting pretty short on her!  She wears a size 10 shoe.  Her appetite is pretty consistent.  She's extremely motivated by dessert...I have NO idea where she gets that from :)  She isn't very picky, she eats pretty much everything Steven and I do, thankfully!  A couple things she's consistently not been a fan of is cheeseburgers and strawberries.  She's always willing to try them, but hasn't developed a taste for them.  Cheese pizza, macaroni & cheese, chicken nuggets, sloppy joes,  and other pastas are among her favorites.

One more funny conversation from this morning's ride to school:

Addy: We're celebrating my birthday at school today, but it's not really my birthday.  My birthday is after my Easter egg hunt.

Mommy:  That's right.  Only 3 more days until your birthday!  You know what, Addy?  Today is March 19th and that's the day that my doctor thought you would be born.  It was called my due date.  You just weren't ready to be born on March 19th, you waited until March 23rd to come out of my belly.

Addy (very serious and convincingly):  Well that's because I want to be all grown up!

A little fun at the park with Daddy this evening:

March Randomness

Addy is hilarious.  She makes us laugh every day.  Often times Steven and I look at each other and wonder where she comes up with the things she does.  And she's smart.  A little too smart for her own good sometimes!  I love talking with her and hearing her almost 4 year old perspective.

Last week Addy had a runny nose from her allergies and after we put her to bed she called us back to her room because she needed a kleenex.  The third time she called, Steven went in there and just put a box of kleenex by her bed.  When I went to bed a couple hours later, I checked on her and found this pile of kleenexes on her night stand.  I laughed because she uses kleenex like a toddler...crumples it up into a ball and wipes her nose once!

Addy and Daddy reading her English/Spanish picture book.   They've started learning Spanish at school and she's doing really well with it!

Addy and Daddy snoozing after school/work!

Addy likes her giraffe tights that match her giraffe shirt:

Practicing drawing arrows. We've been so glad to see how much she uses her easel.  It's been great for her practicing writing her letters and numbers and drawing shapes!

We went to Katie's last basketball game, and Addy made herself at home sitting with the team during their post game talk with Coach Chris!

We had some spring like weather last weekend and it felt so good to get outside and play!  Addy even helped me pull weeds and enjoyed it, sweet girl!

Now for a few Addy conversations...

We get in the car to go to school, and as we're backing out of the garage:
Addy:  Mommy, are you holding on tight?
Mommy: Um, holding on tight?  Do I need to be?
Addy:  Yes!
Mommy:  Why do I need to hold on tight?  (I was totally thinking she was going to make a comment about my driving or something!)
Addy:  For Mickey's Big Adventure!!!  (The name of the movie that is in her DVD player in the car!)

We get in the car after dance class and Addy's rubbing her hands together instead of getting buckled in her carseat:
Mommy:  Addy, what are you doing?
Addy:  I have to wash my hands because I don't want to pick my nose!

Every time she takes medicine (which is daily for her allergy medicine) she waves her hand in front of her nose and says, "Ewww! Bascusting" (disgusting)  Even if she likes the medicine she does that!

Love that girl and her sense of humor!

Second Half of Februray

We had some fun in the last couple weeks of February after we came home from MN.  Here's a run down of what we were up to!

Addy's school had a family fun day to kick off their registration for summer camp so we went and Addy had a blast on the inflatables!

Her teacher even got in on the fun and bounced with her!  She's seriously the best teacher.  Addy adores her.

We went skating again, and Addy did really well.  She didn't want to skate by herself, but she did it a little anyway :)

We babysat Zak for our friends while they went out.  He is such a good baby!  Addy had a great time playing with him and was a great helper!

We went to another Vanderbilt girls basketball game.  Since it was an SEC (southeastern conference) game there was a kid's zone set up in their practice gym.  This was the first time we were able to make it in time to take Addy to the kid's zone.  She had so much fun!   Chris and Wendy came with us to this game as well.

Chris, Wendy, Addy and the pizza she won.  The cheerleaders love the cute girl in the front row!

After the game the team comes out to sign autographs.  Addy had fun running around on the court waiting for them.

The poster she'd have the players sign:

Addy's favorite player, Jasmine.  She's the point guard.

And one final moment to document for February...pixie sticks.  Addy got  a few on Valentine's Day and thought they were pencils.  When I told her she could eat them she decided to finally try one.  Well, as you might suspect, she's hooked!  Addy said to me, "Oh mommy, you need to try this, it's really good!"
