Weekend of May 18-19

We started our weekend by participating in the Law Enforcement Memorial 5k run.  Addy ran with us again, and loved it.  She rode in the jogger most of the way and got out to run the last stretch to the finish line.

Before the race started we got a chance to watch the current trainees in the Metro Police Academy do their warm-up called the "daily half dozen".  It was pretty cool for Addy and me to get to watch what Steven went through.

Steven's favorite training officer:

They had some mascots there as well, and Addy was super excited to see all of them.

Then it was time for the tot trot, or kid's run.  It was probably about 75 yards total, and Addy was excited for her own run.  She did great!

Look at her go!

Tired girl after running so fast :)

An ice cream sandwich to enjoy at the end!

After the race we went home and Addy started playing and "did her own hair".  She was very proud!

After her nap, we went shopping for a new bike for Addy.  We found a great deal on a Cinderella bike.  Steven put it together, and just before bedtime Addy took it for a very short ride:

Sunday she had a chance to ride it more.  She's picking it up pretty well, we just keep reminding her that she needs to keep her head up and watch where she's going!

Week of May 13-17th

We had a busy and productive week!  Addy had dance, and they were working hard to prepare for the recital.  We stopped for dinner and Addy got her face painted:

Then we went to Katie's school where they were having "Night at the Museum".  All the third graders were lined up in the hallways and dressed as different people in history.  If you dropped a coin in their cup, they'd come to life and tell you about themselves.  Katie was Martha Washington.  She did so well!  She told us highlights about her life, which was quite interesting.  It was really a cool idea.

We finally got a load of mulch for the new landscaping.  Addy wasn't into helping, she didn't want to get dirty!

Mulch was finished and I put some pots out trying to decide how I wanted to bury them for flowers.

The last project for the week was getting our little pool set up.  Addy had a picnic dinner on the back porch while we were working on getting it setup.  She couldn't wait to swim.  I assured her she wouldn't be swimming for a few days to let the water warm up!  After her bath, she just had to go back and see how much water was in the pool.  Serious excitement there!

Mother's Day Weekend (May 10-12)

My parents came down to spend the weekend with us, and first thing Saturday morning we got up and ran a 5k race.  It was a fundraiser to support two local families adopting internationally.  We met Jen and her family there as well.  Chris ran the 5k with us.  It was so much fun!

It was a superhero theme, so we borrowed a costume for Addy.  The rest of us were boring and didn't dress up.

Just about to start:

Running to the finish line.  We let Addy out of the jogger about a block away and she did great running to the finish line!

Saturday evening we went out to dinner to celebrate my parent's 40th wedding anniversary!

Sunday morning we had a special breakfast before church.  Normally we just grab whatever, but for Mother's Day my mom and I made a big omelet roll and German pancakes.  Both were new recipes and they both turned out really well!  We all enjoyed it.

The Sunday School kids sang "I Am Jesus' Little Lamb" in church.  They did so well.  It was Addy's first time singing in church, and she was so cute!  She worked very hard to learn the hymn, and she knew every word.

Then we opened presents.  Both Grandmas received last years edition of the blog book.  Grandma E's was sent to her house.
And look what Addy made me at school!  I LOVE it!  She painted this apron using her hands for flowers and her feet to make butterflies.  She is so proud of it and lights up every time I wear it while cooking/baking.  Definitely a sweet gift!

(I know, I know the slippers really complete the look here, don't they?!)

Then Jen and her family came over and joined us for lunch and to hang out for the afternoon!

More progress on the new landscaping...adding bullet edgers:

Addy finally started driving her police car on her own!  She told Grandma to lay in the grass and pretend to be hurt so she could come help her.  Grandma obliged :)

Then Steven went and got his work car and surprised Addy by following her with his lights on, no sirens though!  She thought it was so funny.  You might be a red neck if...  :)
It was a fun-filled family weekend.  So hard to believe this was my 5th Mother's Day!  Where has the time gone?

2009 (I couldn't find a picture from our first Mother's Day, but this was less than a week later):

*Update: I remember Addy and I were in MN for my first Mother's day!  We spent the day with my parents, aunt Diane, and cousins Michelle and Trish and their families.  Here's a fun picture of the moms and kiddos:
