Slow Progress...

This week our progress has been really slow....almost painfully slow because there isn't much framing that needs to be finished, yet they didn't come out and get it done. They did come out and start putting the shingles on yesterday and they were almost finished with them when we took the pictures today.

We've also included the pictures of the ceiling of the storm/storage room that we were talking about last time. The first picture is looking on top of the ceiling, and the second is from inside the room.

Yeah for Concrete!

Finally the concrete walls and ceiling were poured today, barely. It was so late this afternoon that we couldn't get pictures, it was just too dark inside the house. Now the framers should be able to get everything done tomorrow, or so they say! We're expecting the electrician and plumber on Monday and Tuesday next week. We'll have pictures to post tomorrow.

We Have Windows

They started wrapping the house and installed some windows today. Still no pump truck; however, it is scheduled again for Thursday. We'll see if that happens. Here are some pictures.

Just When We Least Expected It

We weren't expecting any more progress on the house until the pump truck arrived to finish off our storm/storage room....but we found a great surprise when we went out there yesterday to do some measuring! The framers actually came back on Saturday and did some more detail type work. They finished all the plywood on the exterior of the house and finally cut out all the windows. That is the one thing I really wanted done!!! And, our windows were delivered today!

The pump truck didn't come today because it was "too cold". We woke up to 27 degrees and it warmed up to 45 today. They laughed at Lee when he called to ask why they didn't show up. These southern concrete boys don't know what cold is!

Tomorrow the framers are supposed to be back to wrap the house with Ty-Vek (or something like that), install the windows, and correct a few things on the inside of the house. Once again, the pump truck is scheduled to come and finish the storm/storage room. We'll believe it when we see it! Here are some current pictures of the house.

No News is Not Good News

We haven't had much to say this week. The pictures don't look very different, but the house is almost completely enclosed. The front porch area is the only part they have left. Last Saturday and Monday they did a lot of detail work on the inside. It is nice to see all of the support boards gone from the inside of the house!
We have been waiting for a pump truck to come and fill the block walls and pour the cement ceiling on our storm/storage room. Until that happens, they won't finish the framing. Back to the waiting game.
It's such a bummer because our weather has been so nice! We had 70 degrees on Mon. and Tue. and it's been in the 60s the last 2 days. LOVE IT! Ironically, today we were under a tornado watch for a couple hours....sure would be a good time to have that storm room done!
