Flood of April 2010
Oh.my.goodness. We got some rain today!!! We were under a thunderstorm watch/warning pretty much all day and a tornado watch/warning for most of the early evening. It rained on and off all day, and with some pretty hefty downpours to boot! Well, our creek in front of our house barely kept it all contained. It was completely dry this morning, but tonight was a completely different story. And we were very lucky. Just 5 houses down from us was a totally different scene. The creek bed isn't as deep down there and they had water knee high in their garages and flowing water running through their crawl spaces under their houses.
We took some pictures with the help of a flashlight, but it was so dark it's kind of hard to see. The first picture is from a few months ago when it snowed to try and give you an idea of what the creek normally looks like and how deep it is. The next picture is the same view tonight.

Here's a closer look at the water coming up over the edge into our yard.

Thankfully, the water is also receding quite quickly. Addy and I went down to check out or neighbors' houses and came back about 20-30 minutes later and here's the same view as the picture above when we came back home.

I'm nervous to look at our garden tomorrow. Not sure how our little seedlings handled all this rain!

Daddy's Hat
Addy has really been interested in one of Steven's hats recently. She loves putting it on. And she looks so cute in it, too! We laugh that Addy's head isn't much smaller than her Daddy's head! If it weren't for the pink pajamas Addy could easily pass for a boy, too! That's why we keep the bows around. :)

Poor thing, her face is all greasy again with Aquaphor. Her nose and cheeks are so dry and chapped from us wiping her nose so much. I think we're setting a record this week with taking baths...she's had one every night! It seems like it's the only time her nose isn't running and she just enjoys playing in the tub. That, and her drool stinks! Seriously. I don't know if it's normal, but her neck is so stinky by the end of the day from all her drool!
On a side note...Addy is getting really close to walking! She's starting to get more brave about taking a couple steps on her own to get to a toy or to something she can hang on to. She's taken 5 steps going between Steven and me, but that's about it. Today she was taking steps with out being prompted. I don't think it will be long now...

Laundry Helper

Addy was "helping" daddy with some laundry yesterday!
Behind her sweet smile you can sort of tell she's not feeling very well. Over the weekend Addy had a molar poke through! Poor thing, the other 3 molars are coming in right behind this one. Her gums are swollen and red. She's got the runny nose to go along with all this fun, too. She's been tugging on her right ear for a couple days so we took her in to the doctor for a quick check to make sure there was no ear infection, and there wasn't!!! The doctor said her ears looked really good, and we're thankful for that. The doctor also said that it's common for kids to tug on their ears when the molars come in because the pain is closer to their ears. Makes sense. She's also up one pound from a month ago. She now weighs 22lbs 10oz!!!

The Garden is Planted!
We got our garden planted today! Steven and I intended to get all the planting done while Addy was napping this afternoon, but we ended up talking with our neighbor instead. That means Addy got to "help" us when she woke up. And what a big help she was! She was doing her best to remove all the dirt from the garden and un-plant everything as I planted it. She obviously has short term memory issues because she ate the dirt again. Hopefully Miracle Gro is kid-friendly.

This picture doesn't do justice to show exactly how much Addy covered herself in dirt. It was pretty funny. She had a great time, though. I think she's really going to enjoy seeing our garden grow as much as we will...hopefully it will grow! Here's an "after" picture once we had everything planted:

We're starting small this year with our garden. We planted tomatoes, green pepper, onions, and zucchini. If we have some success, we'll plant more next year!
