Last Few Days of May

We ended May with some pool time:

I went for a run, and when I came back I found these two living the good life!

We made a strawberry upside down cake and Addy made sure the strawberries were smashed and the marshmallows were placed just right :)

On Friday, May 31 Addy had a dress rehearsal for her dance recital.  She was excited and all set to go!

Sitting with her class, waiting their turn:

They did great, almost everyone got the ending right!

After dress rehearsal, we went to Target to pick up a few things.  As we were checking out, there was an employee from the Starbucks inside Target passing out free samples of their new iced coffee.  She gave one to Steven and one to me.  Steven doesn't like coffee, but Addy was certainly interested because of the whipped cream and caramel on top.  It was really good, and Addy drank Steven's sample on her own!  For the record, not making a habit of that ;)

Katie's 9th Birthday

On Tuesday, May 28 Katie turned 9 and celebrated her birthday with pizza and Chuck-E-Cheese.  Shannon and her family along with Jim and Linda and our family were there to celebrate with her.

This was the first time I'd been to Chuck-E-Cheese with Addy, and I was hoping she wouldn't ask to go back for a long time!  She had a great time, though, and that was fun to watch.

This was her favorite game of the night and played it 4 times!

Memorial Day Weekend

Our Memorial Day weekend started on Friday with a run at our local greenway followed by a picnic dinner:

Saturday morning we had a pirate in our living room:

Then we went outside to play hop scotch and draw pictures on the driveway:

Picnic lunch on the back porch:

Climbing to new heights on the swing set:

And s'mores before bed!  Yes, Addy stayed in her pajamas all day :)

After church on Sunday, we met Jen and family along with Jim and Linda for lunch and then went to hang out at the campground where Jim and Linda were staying.  They had a great playground right across the street.

They also had a playground at the campground that the girls enjoyed for a while, too:

Then they went swimming, and the water was COLD!

Riding scooters before dinner:

At the end of the evening the girls put on a show for us:

Monday morning started with donuts!

Then we went to Jen's to swim.  Well, that was the idea anyway...the water was cold!

And then Katie took the big plunge, for the first time from the railing!  Last day of being 8 years old and she did it!

After Chris grilled bbq chicken for dinner, we went outside to play four square and draw with sidewalk chalk.  Good times!

Last Day of School May 22, 2013

Wednesday, May 22 was Addy's last day of preschool 3.  Where did the year go?!  And look how much she's changed since the first day of school on Aug. 8!  It's hard to tell since I put her hair up on the last day of school, but it grew a lot this year.

The preschool put on a program to kick off their last day of school celebration.  They did such a great job!  They stared by singing some of the songs they learned and sang in chapel.

Next, Addy's class recited a few of the Bible verses they'd learned this year:

Then her teacher gave each of them a picture of a miracle Jesus performed and asked questions about the miracles.  Addy answered questions about Jesus feeding the 5,000 with two fish and five loaves of bread.
Everyone got a medal and certificate for reciting all 26 Bible verses they learned this year.  In addition, Addy's teacher gave each child another certificate for their personal accomplishments achieved throughout the year.  Addy got "artist extraordinaire"!

Addy and Mrs. Fields...the perfect first teacher for Addy.  She adores her.

After the awards program the entire preschool invaded an indoor inflatable play place!  I had to go to work, but Steven was able to be off from work and go with Addy.  He said it was pure chaos, and I can only imagine!  They had a lot of fun though!

Pizza for lunch to wrap up their fun day:

And that was the end of Addy's Pre-K3 school year.  She experienced so many new things this year, and we're so proud of her and how well she handled all the changes.  Her teacher was such a blessing, and we're so thankful for her influence on Addy.

For the summer Addy is going to spend most of her time with Ms. Wendy again, which they're both excited about!  Her school is also having summer camp, and she's going once/week so she can keep up with her friends and give Ms. Wendy a day off each week.  So far so good!
